The La Canada High School Marching Band would like to invite the community, our supporters, and our friends and family to the Friends & Family Show on Friday, November 17th, at 6pm at the LCHS Stadium.

This is the final home performance under the lights for the Marching Spartans 2017 field show, “Rapunzel.” The show features music from Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite, and Radiohead’s Creep. The band and color guard will be led on the field by Senior Drum Major Bryan Guan. This year’s show puts forth champion showmanship… There’s even Rapunzel’s tower with 55’ of her hair!

The band will leave Friday, following the show, to compete in the Western Band Association Championships in Clovis, CA.

Admission is free.

Adv. Orchestra – Volunteer Needs

  1. Elementary Tour: We will need several parents to ride the bus to/from the elementary sites and experience the Orchestra’s performance at each of the sites. This trip is always enjoyed by the elementary students and the high school students as well. We will meet at the high school at 7:30am, and will return to the high school at the end of the school day.
  2. Winter Spectacular Refreshments: We will need volunteers to organize the refreshments that we serve after the Winter Spectacular on December 8th. We need helpers in the planning, set-up, serving, and tear-down of the refreshments.
  3. Winter Retreat: We are looking for several volunteers to travel with us on the Winter Retreat, January 19th-21st. It’s a fun trip to the mountains and you get to observe all the hard work of the students! There is no cost to chaperone this trip.

If you are interested in volunteering at any of the above activities, please contact Cecilia Cheng.

Ms. Munday’s News & Notes…

Inspiration can come from anywhere. I’m always amazed to hear about which ideas or people or things have been muses to different artists. We all can use a little inspiration now and then, and I have to say that I have been so inspired by the students in the orchestras and bands. There is much going on in their lives and yet they remain committed to playing well and making great music. They inspire me to be the best teacher I can be. Thank you.

For 9-12 Orchestra:

Please return the form and money for Winter Retreat by Friday, November 17th.

Ireland registration should be completed by Friday, November 17th.
