Marching Band & Color Guard Picture Day

Marching Band & Color Guard Group Picture Day

Tuesday, October October 16th

After School

Hahamonga Park

The students will report to the band room and change into uniform at dismissal and then walk over to Hahamonga for the photos.

All band/guard members will receive an 8×10 group photo included as part of the donations you gave. If you are interested in ordering additional photos, please check out the order form. The photographer will do individual photos as well as section photos or buddy photos.

Please note that ALL students must fill out an envelope from the photographer in order to receive their photos… even if you are not ordering additional photos. Envelopes will be available in the band room from Mr. Stone.

Just an FYI… the photographer is kind of picky about this so please have your student either pick up an envelope or have them fill one out. It just makes the picture taking time go a little quicker if the envelopes are filled out prior to walking over to Hahamonga.

If you have questions, please contact Mr. Stone or Sandy.

7/8 Orchestra Tux Jackets

7/8 Orchestra Tuxedo Jacket Fitting & Distribution

Thursday, October 11th

Zero Period

Sandy will be there during Zero period to fit (as best as possible) tuxedo jackets for all the young men in the 7/8 Orchestra.

Your student will be borrowing the jacket for the 2018-19 school year and will return it in May. Your student will take the jacket home and wear it on concert days.

Ms. Munday’s News & Notes…

Last Friday, there was a reporter from the La Canada Outlook who came and listened to the rehearsal and interviewed Mr. Myers, several students, and I about our concert on October 17th, Forte of the Silenced. Look for the article this week! He seemed to be quite impressed by the music and the intelligence and the musical abilities of the students. We look forward to seeing all of you at the concert to join in this event with us! Tell everyone! Please have an exciting week!

Mr. Stone’s Thought of the Week…

This is a great week for the Marching Spartans as they venture this Saturday to their first competition. If you saw the show on Friday night, you know they’ve been working hard to make their show better, cooler, and more exciting. We are working hard this week to fine tune those moments and make sure it all looks amazing for this weekend. Please remember that attendance is vital for our success and safety of all. I would love to see a huge contingent of LC parents and friends at Ayala cheering and helping push on equipment to our first show of the year.

For Orchestra, next week is our first concert and Forte of the Silenced will be featured in the Outlook sometime this week. Look for the article highlighting this great event and some of our student orchestra members. Be sure to mark October 17th in your calendar as a day to come and hear our great orchestras play.

Mr. Stone’s Thought of the Week

October has arrived! I can’t believe how fast September goes each year.

The first Orchestra concert of the year is on October 17th. Forte of the Silenced will be an amazing night celebrating women composers as played by our amazing 7/8 and 9-12 Orchestras.

At the October 5th football game, will see the first complete performance (fingers crossed) of the Marching Spartans show Altered Perspectives, and the following week, October 13th, at Ayala High School will begin the marching competition season.

Lots of amazing music and performances for everyone to experience together. What an exciting month!

Looking forward to seeing you all at any and all of these great music events.
